I plan on cooking a Ham for Christmas. My question is? How long can I keep it in the fridge before it will spoil. This is just one of those precooked regular hams that you find in the market. I know you can't really freeze the ham, so I was just wondering how long will it keep in the fridge.
Thank You

I don't know how long but I've had one since Thanksgiving. The process of creating a ham is a preservative method. Right about now is when I make ham and bean soup. The small white beans are soaking as we speak.

I would think it would be fine in the fridge for several days. What is the "Use By Date" on the package? Also, I've frozen cooked ham many times with great results.

As a matter of fact I have also frozen ham when I started to get nervous about its age. We had ham last night and tomorrow it becomes ham and bean soup.

I also have frozen the half hams with no problem at all with the texture.

Thanks All for the help about "Ham". I'm almost certain that when I froze ham the last time, i kept it too long in the freezer. Now I know after cooking the ham, I can freeze it, but now a long time.
Thanks Again

We were talking about freezing the ham when you get it from the store. After cooking, it would lose more texture and would probably be drier. That's my opinion anyways.

Thanks again. Now I Know. Maybe I can have the butcher cut it into thirds. Cook one third and freeze the remaining 2/3rds. Otherwise I'd have to cook the entire ham.
Thanks again
